Opening Possibilities with Vancouver Design Week
Recently an opportunity came across our desk’s we knew we had to take part in, Vancouver Design Week. VDW is sponsored in part by Gray Magazine and is a design focused event running from May 7-13 with showroom and artistic spaces opening their doors to the design community and general public. Each year there is a theme, and this year’s theme is “impact”
Here at Westeck Windows and Doors, we look at this theme of IMPACT in two ways.
- The impact of a well-designed home: utilizing products to incorporate one’s surroundings into their space (Indoor-Outdoor Living), and the possibilities for enhanced lifestyle that creates.
- The impact we all have in the process of design. From completed product, back through installation, manufacturing, sales, marketing, and concept creation, there are many people that contribute to the finished product you see on our website. Our most important relationships are with the Home Owners, Builders, Designers, as well as the ever-changing mix of professionals we market our products through.
So here we are. May 11th from 7-9pm we open our doors to you all. From the Instagram influencers who feature our work in such a beautifully visual way, to the builders and designers we have worked with for nearly 20 years, to the home owners with clear design vision who just want to see what options are available to maximize their space, to the up and coming design professionals in post-secondary education- this event is for you. We invite you to step foot into our space for a comfortable interactive experience.
Enjoy some complimentary refreshments, put faces to the names you see throughout your online experience, and check out our constantly evolving and improving products lines.
We look forward to meeting you!
About Vancouver Design Week
Vancouver Design Week (VDW) is the city’s official interdisciplinary design festival — at once a city-wide platform, invitation and call to action! VDW is a unique opportunity to: celebrate local design talent; connect design makers and users; and to support design’s capacity for improving the quality of our everyday lives.
We are all impacted by design everyday. VDW’s mission is: to increase awareness of and appreciation for design, design process and the pervasive impact design has on important social and cultural issues; and to create an informed, inclusive (and inspiring!) participatory platform for engaging them.
About Westeck Windows and Doors
When a multi-national window and door company closed shop in the BC market many good, hardworking people lost their jobs, and families their livelihood. Armed with a dream to provide employment for those workers and a new approach to the industry, one of those inspired people dared to forge a new path. Westeck emerged as a scrappy start-up with a chip on its shoulder and a mandate to listen to the needs of their customers. What they learned would form the very DNA of Westeck.
Over the following years Westeck would develop many product firsts, constantly challenging the market status quo that were previously set by larger window and door companies.
With each new product development it became clear that customers no longer wanted standard sized white windows. Combo, SDL, and color options became the norm and the building industry celebrated these options on its most beautiful homes. The success of windows quickly led to demand in doors. Westeck listened and delivered the same transformative products it did only years earlier with windows.
From scrappy start up to recognized leader, today Westeck stays true to its DNA formed nearly 20 years prior. The needs of their customers drives a deep and ingrained research and development program that promises the next generation of products to advance the window, door and patio opening industry. What once started as one man’s dream is now embraced and carried forward by all good and hardworking Westeck employees.
Westeck Windows and Doors now has 30+ sales professionals, across offices in British Columbia (Vancouver, Chilliwack, Victoria, Nanaimo, Kelowna) and Washington State (Seattle) with a NEW showroom opening in September 2019 in Bellingham, as well as an extensive dealer network throughout North America. Westeck employs over 200 people, with the majority working out of the corporate facility in Chilliwack, British Columbia.
