When I was asked to write this article, I sat and thought, “where do I start?” There are so many things for me to say, and as all who know me are aware, I never have a shortage of words! I decided that it was easiest for me to write about the amazing culture we strive to uphold at Westeck, and that is the Culture of Care

I was recently sitting with the guy in the corner office, better known as CK (Casey Kerkhoff), and he asked me a question. He said “Sara, what makes us different from any other company?” Without any hesitation or much room for thought, I responded, “we care”.
Westeck has a huge care factor in our business. We understand that people caring about people has a tremendous effect both inside and outside of our organization.
Westeck cares about our customers, and they return the favour by buying our products again and again. Some have done so for nearly 20 years continuously!
Westeck cares about our employees. We pride ourselves in our people not just being a number, and it shows when I see the employees of Westeck always coming together to get things done for the sake of the customer or the community.
I pride myself in having a recruitment process in which we look for people who have that same caring attribute. You can teach someone how to cut glass, but you can’t teach people how to care. They either have the innate drive to do it or they don’t.
Westeck has leaders who care, and they demonstrate it relentlessly. Caring starts from the top; it’s what our leaders exemplify. As a result, our employees are incredibly engaged in the work they do. Some may think that caring is “soft” or unnecessary, but it truly is a critical component to shaping a culture.
A culture of care doesn’t come from mind-blowing performance or leveraging a competitive advantage. It doesn’t come from generating a pristine new strategic idea. Rather, it is the result of individuals working together in harmony towards a shared goal, and that only happens if there is an authentic caring culture at play., Westeck is rich in upholding this value, so thanks to each and everyone of you, throughout our entire organization, for always taking the time to show others that you care.

Westeck Windows and Doors now has 30+ sales professionals, across offices in British Columbia (Vancouver, Chilliwack, Victoria, Nanaimo, Kelowna) and Washington State (Seattle) with a NEW showroom opening in September 2019 in Bellingham, as well as an extensive dealer network throughout North America. Westeck employs over 200 people, with the majority working out of the corporate facility in Chilliwack, British Columbia.
