Refresh! Renew! Spring is here!
The Department stores and boutiques have been telling us this since the 2nd of January, but it was difficult to believe. What seems like the longest winter in the Fraser Valley and Pacific Northwest, is joyfully finished. Now what?
When Spring arrives, the landscape takes new form, as the crocuses, daffodil, and tulips come back to life, it is an inspiring reminder of days to come. New Possibilities.
As an avid gardener and outdoor living enthusiast, I am so grateful to live in Chilliwack BC where we have a joy to experience Tulips of The Valley one of the largest plant festivals in BC. It is a reminder to us all to stop and appreciate nature and our surroundings, and perhaps inspire our own yards. Last year, as a result, I planted over 2000 bulbs.
Of course, Spring isn’t all about pretty flowers and dancing merrily in the April rains. There is also the clean up. The outdoor spaces have taken a beating and are crying out for attention. Trims should be repainted, wood porches re-sealed, and windows washed. Take a look through Pinterest and one finds plenty of checklists, instructions, and demands for that dreaded spring cleaning. Here at Westeck, we have an excellent resource for caring for windows and patio openings (yes there is a right and a wrong way) Please visit: https://www.westeckwindows.com/glass-and-window-care/.
Working in the custom market Patio Opening, Window, and Door industry, I have the added joy of being inspired daily by some amazing home builders and owners. Recently we have made friends with some incredible Instagram Influencers. These are the “marketers of tomorrow” who are really making their mark TODAY, teaching us incredible lessons on fine living and design. With the intent of spending a couple of minutes scrolling through their online galleries, one can easily get lost in the beautiful visuals, inspiring content, and well executed designs. 3 of my personal favorites are all in various stages of their dream home builds.
Kelsey is at the beginning stage of her dream home, and daily we check in to see how the foundation is coming along, and what life lessons were learned along the way. Speaking with Kelsey about her passion has proven more valuable than hours spent listening to traditional lifestyle experts. We can’t wait to see the end result.
Kate has one of the most cohesive visuals of any Instagram account. A mom on the go with inspiring fashion and parental tips, Kate is in the middle of building her HUGE dream home. Nate Berkus said, “Your house should rise up to meet you”. The Boake House certainly does that. What a showstopper this will be. We have a sneaking suspicion the interior might include a touch of pink.
Shinder is one of our more recent Instagram discoveries and offers us an alternative, but equally beautiful, to ultra-modern homes. Her designs are vintage inspired, yet bright and modern. A perfect location for a tea party, but no cell phones at the table please!
So, what about you. What inspires you this Spring? Easter is mere moments away, and many families will be celebrating the holiday by gathering together. Perhaps you are designing your dream home, or you are already living in it. Or maybe, your focus is all about renewal and spring cleaning.
Whatever this season brings you, do it well, do it beautiful, and be inspired.
