My name is Jason Vaartstra, and I’m the Victoria Branch Manager at Westeck Windows and Doors. I have been with the company for almost a year and a half now, spending my time working out of the Victoria office. For my first ever blog post, I’d like to talk about how Westeck is uniquely suited for Vancouver Island.
Obvious draws to island living are that the water is never far away, there is no shortage of breathtaking views, and, especially on the South Island, we have the best weather in Canada. To take advantage of all that the island has to offer from a home design point of view, Westeck can step up and offer multiple options.
One of my favorite things about working for Westeck is the wide variety of product options we can provide to our clients. My entire professional background before Westeck was in construction. Since I’ve been with Westeck, I’ve always said I could never do this job for another company that would be limited to selling run-of-the-mill products. I enjoy discussing options with people. I’m proud of the fact that no other company can give customers so many choices, by providing the options that Westeck can. You want painted window frames? No problem. Custom color? No problem. Wood liner on the inside? No problem. You want a 30’ patio door? No problem. Any of these options are available to create homes that make the most of our island locale.
And about those views: Westeck’s unofficial slogan could be “we do big glass.” We offer patio door options that seamlessly blend the outdoors with indoors. The GrandView Door is the best example of this. With the ability to have multiple panels stack over one other to create large openings - even upwards of 20’ - the only limitation this door really has is how long a wall you can make for it to be housed in.
It’s true, though, that Vancouver Island is located in a historic temperate rain-forest, and that means rain – and lots of it. A constant concern with customers when considering large glass options is the ability of the product to stand up against the weather. Westeck has this covered. With our own in-house testing facility, all our products have been rigorously assessed and certified with the best engineering standards to easily withstand the rigors of BC coastal weather.
Check out our website, follow us on social media, or come visit us in a showroom: we have island locations in both Victoria and Nanaimo! Come see how Westeck can help make the views from your home BIG.
